After Hamas rejected the agreement on the release of Israeli hostages, the United States demanded that Qatar expel the Hamas leadership.
According to the Reuters report, the United States clearly told Qatar that the presence of Hamas in Doha is no longer acceptable because the Palestinian militant group Hamas has rejected the latest agreement on the ceasefire and hostages.
The US official, speaking to a foreign news agency, said that Hamas leaders should no longer be welcome in the capitals of any US-allied country after repeatedly rejecting offers to release Israeli hostages. We made it clear to Qatar a week ago that another proposal by Hamas to release the hostages was also rejected.
According to a foreign media report, Qatar had expressed to the leaders of Hamas about 10 days ago that after rejecting the proposals, Washington had told Qatar that it is time to close the political office of Hamas.
On the other hand, three leaders of Hamas have rejected the news of Qatar’s demand to leave the country, while Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to the request for confirmation or comment.
It should be noted that Qatar, along with the United States and Egypt, has been playing an important role in the fruitless negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza and the release of hostages, and the latest round of negotiations in Doha in mid-October also failed. Because Hamas rejected the proposal for a short-term ceasefire.
