Afghanistan’s top-order batsman Ehsanullah Jannat has been banned for 5 hundred on corruption charges.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has imposed an immediate 5-year ban on the cricketer for corruption during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League earlier this year.
The board found Ehsanullah Jannat guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, under the statute, abuse of influence while attempting to manipulate another aspect of the match.
As a result of this violation, Ehsanullah is immediately banned from playing all formats of cricket for 5 years, while the cricketer has admitted the charges.
On the other hand, the Afghan board is also investigating 3 other players for possible involvement in corruption.
26-year-old Ehsanullah was representing Shamshad Eagles in the Kabul Premier League 2024. He scored 72 runs in four innings, averaging 18 with a strike rate of 150 as his team finished last in the 6-team league.
Ehsanullah has represented Afghanistan in 20 matches in all three formats.
