Islamabad: After the Senate, the session of the National Assembly was also postponed for an indefinite period, as a result of which the matter of constitutional amendment was delayed.
A meeting of the National Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, in which Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that the draft of constitutional amendments comes when the bill is presented, first the government consults and then the cabinet approves. But this bill has not yet gone to the cabinet.
After various MNAs expressed their views, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq adjourned the meeting for an indefinite period.
Meanwhile, a Senate meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan, in which Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman presented a commemorative resolution on 7 September 1974 unanimously declaring the Qadianis as non-Muslims.
The Senate passed the resolution unanimously, after which the meeting of the Senate was adjourned for an indefinite period. Thus, the deadlock between the government and the opposition on the constitutional amendment remained.
PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui says that the constitutional amendments will be presented in the new session of the National Assembly.
