Fujian: After wreaking havoc in Taiwan and the Philippines, Typhoon Gami has hit the coast of China’s Fujian province.
More than 150,000 people living in China’s southeastern province of Fujian have been evacuated to safer places due to the fear of the typhoon.
At least 21 people were killed after Typhoon Gami caused widespread flooding and landslides in Taiwan and the Philippines.
China has issued a warning as the typhoon approaches its coast on Thursday evening local time.
Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired a meeting with top Communist Party leadership on flood control and natural disaster management plans.
Train service has been suspended in the Chinese province of Fujian, while officials in northern China have warned that heavy rains could cause landslides and floods.
Meanwhile, the state flood control and drought relief headquarters says there is a high risk of natural calamities.
Powerful typhoon Gami is taking a similar path to last year’s Typhoon Doxori, which caused widespread flooding in northern China, but experts have suggested it may change course.
