The Islamabad High Court has ordered to stop the Election Tribunal proceedings of NA-48 after NA-47.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq heard the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Bukhari. Ali Bukhari and other lawyers appeared in the court. The court issued a stay order on the NA-48 constituency of Islamabad and stopped the Election Tribunal from proceeding to the extent of Ali Bukhari’s petition.
The Islamabad High Court said that the Election Tribunal can continue the proceedings to the extent of NA-46. The court issued notices to the parties and sought their responses. The Election Tribunal has fixed December 24 for the case related to the three constituencies of Islamabad. The victory of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz from NA-48 constituency has been challenged by PTI’s Ali Bukhari.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had issued a stay order on the petition of PTI candidate from Islamabad Shoaib Shaheen, restraining the tribunal from proceeding with the election petition. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry became MNA from NA-47. His victory has been challenged by Shoaib Shaheen.
