Islamabad: Afghanistan will not participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of Government meeting, Afghanistan has not been invited by the SCO Secretariat.
Afghanistan has not been invited by the SCO Secretariat to participate in the Heads of Government Meeting, after which Afghanistan will no longer participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of Government Meeting.
Diplomatic sources say that Afghanistan is not a member of the SCO, but an observer state whose membership is inactive. Afghanistan became an observer of the SCO on June 7, 2012, while its membership has been inactive since September 2021.
