Former captain and Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram has resigned from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to sources, former captain Wasim Akram was offered to become the chief executive officer (CEO) or adviser to the chairman, but due to other engagements, he is not available for the full-time job. .
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi is also Federal Interior Minister. Decided to hand over the former cricketer, sources said that a few days ago, Mohsin Naqvi contacted Wasim Akram and asked him to take over the post of PCB’s chief executive officer or his adviser, it will be a full-time job, all Cricketing matters will have to be seen by them.
Sources say that the former captain apologized to the chairman and said that he is now permanently residing in Karachi, because of his family he often has to go to Australia, it is not possible for him to live in Lahore again, however, when If Pakistan cricket needs them, they will be available free of charge.
The chairman also shared his future plans with them, which impressed Wasim Akram, the board officials then contacted Waqar Younis who agreed to take over the responsibility, he also lives in Australia with his family.
However, some time ago he had said that he intends to move to Lahore again, he had a meeting with the chairman on Monday in which the matters were discussed, but till now the board has not formally announced the appointment.
Earlier also Waqar Younis has been associated with PCB in various capacities but each time ended in an unpleasant way.
It should be remembered that the post of CEO does not exist in the new constitution, but it can be changed.
