United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Prime Minister House.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister appreciated the support of the United Nations in hosting the Afghan refugees for four decades and said that despite the many challenges, Pakistan always hosted the Afghan refugees with utmost respect and dignity.
Shahbaz Sharif has said that UNHCR should play a role in promoting a sustainable solution for Afghan refugees, the safe and dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees is among the top priorities of the government of Pakistan.
He has said that the international community should help in the problem of repatriation of Afghan refugees, the socio-economic challenges and security threats faced by Pakistan in the return of Afghan refugees should be taken into consideration.
On this occasion, the United Nations High Commissioner paid tribute to the government of Pakistan for hosting millions of Afghan refugees for decades and said that he will continue to work with Pakistan to meet the basic needs of Afghan refugees.
