The federal capital police have told the Islamabad High Court that 62 cases have been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Federal Capital, while 7 cases and inquiries are underway against him in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the Islamabad High Court heard a petition filed by his sister Noreen Niazi to obtain details of the cases registered against the PTI founder, who is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
Islamabad Police sought time to submit a report on the cases registered against the PTI founder, DSP Legal Sajid Cheema said that we received the notice only yesterday evening, so some time should be given.
The court said that this was again your office’s mistake, we had given notice the day before yesterday, DSP Legal said that 62 cases are registered against the PTI founder in Islamabad, seven FIRs and inquiries are registered in the FIA, if the court says so, I will submit an interim report, I will give the final report later.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said that do not go towards the interim side, submit the final and detailed report tomorrow, DSP Legal Sajid Cheema requested that we be given time till Monday to submit the report.
The court said why do we need so much time, are there more FIRs? Later, the court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing till November 18.
It should be noted that two days ago, the report submitted by the police to the Lahore High Court stated that 54 cases were registered against Imran Khan in Punjab.
The petition filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, said that Imran Khan is being targeted for political revenge and is being implicated in cases every day.
The petition requested that the relevant authorities be ordered to provide details of the cases registered and not to arrest Imran Khan in any unknown case.
