Rawalpindi: 4 employees including the former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Rawalpindi were dismissed from their jobs.
According to the sources, former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan and 2 Warders are among those dismissed. Rawalpindi officers sacked after being found guilty in jail murder inquiry. Punjab Interior Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has issued notification of dismissal from the job.
Sources further say that an inquiry was underway against the prison officers for the murder of Hawalati in the cell of mentally ill prisoners on February 29. In the inquiry, 7 employees including the then Deputy Superintendent Executive Muhammad Akram were found guilty and 4 employees were recommended to be dismissed.
In the light of the inquiry report, the competent authority had issued show-cause notices to the employees on August 30 and sought their answers. The employees also appeared in the personal hearing of the Director General Directorate of Monitoring and the Ministry of Interior, while the Deputy Superintendent was absent. In the light of the report, Warder Nasir Mehmood Barak-in-charge was dismissed and Warder Amir Abbas bat duty shift was dismissed. Night duty officer Assistant Superintendent Mahmoodul Hasan was sentenced to two years, Head Warder Wajid Mahmood one year.
