Islamabad: 318 Pakistanis stranded in Syria have reached Islamabad safely via a chartered plane from Beirut.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal welcomed the Pakistanis arriving from Beirut at the Islamabad Airport.
The evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Syria was possible thanks to the special efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister contacted the Prime Minister of Lebanon for the return of the Pakistanis and requested his help.
Speaking to the media on this occasion, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that he thanked Allah Almighty for their safe arrival in Pakistan from Syria. The return of Pakistanis living in Syria is the first priority.
He said that wherever a Pakistani is in trouble in the world, he will not be alone.
He said that Pakistanis were trapped there due to the situation in Syria, the Prime Minister directed to bring the Pakistanis back immediately.
Ahsan Iqbal also thanked the Lebanese Prime Minister who played an important role in issuing visas to Pakistanis.
