Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has said that the severe low pressure over Kutch (India), 200 km from Karachi, is likely to turn into a powerful storm between this afternoon and evening.
Sardar Sarfaraz said that the strongest low pressure is slowly moving further west, southwest, the deep depression is 200 km southeast of Karachi.
He said that between today afternoon and evening, it can take the form of a powerful storm, when the storm is formed, its direction is likely to be towards the west, southwest.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in its latest statement said that the severe low pressure is present over the Run of Kutch (India), there is a strong possibility of the severe low pressure turning into a cyclone during the next 24 hours. is
The ongoing statement said that due to the current situation till August 31, Karachi Division, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu and Shaheed Benazir. There is a possibility of strong wind, torrential rain, heavy stormy rain in Abad districts.
The PMD said that during August 30 to September 1, intermittent strong winds, torrential rains and heavy stormy rains have been predicted in the districts of Hub, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech and Gwadar.
It should be noted that last night, PMD had issued a second storm alert on the Sindh province’s coastline, saying that a deep depression is located 250 km south-east of Karachi.
In the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, it was said that the deep depression has moved towards the southwest from India during the last 12 hours.
It said that the cyclone is likely to remain unstable with strong winds and a deep depression will emerge in the Arabian Sea along the Indus coast by tomorrow morning.
The agency said in a statement that due to favorable atmospheric conditions, it may turn into a hurricane and there is a possibility of heavy rain in Karachi under the influence of the cyclone.
