London: In a new study, scientists have claimed that all blue-eyed people are descended from a European man who lived 6,000 to 10,000 years ago.
In the beginning, humans only had brown eyes until a certain mutation caused them to change forever.
According to the scientists, the change is in a gene called HERC2 and it turns off OCA2, the gene that helps determine how much brown hair we produce.
The HERC2 gene is the reason our eyes turn blue.
In further research, scientists discovered that everyone with blue eyes descended from the same person because they all had the same mutation.
According to scientists, only 8 to 10 percent of the world’s population has blue eyes
