LONDON: A new fraud detection tool has been introduced in the UK to protect consumers from internet scams.
Users will upload a screenshot of any suspicious text, email or website and see if they are safe or not.
This tool called Ask Silver can be used in WhatsApp. Once a user signs up to this tool, it will appear like any other contact and use AI to quickly assess whether the target is a chat scheme or not.
Once set up, the user will be told if the email, text or website is secure and other actions to take, including reporting the scheme.
Non-profit scam protection group GetSafeOnline partnered with the device maker to launch the tool to the public and help raise awareness of how to stay safe from online scams.
