ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says that we are facing global challenges including inflation and economic uncertainty, but the government of Pakistan is determined to make life easier for its people.
On the occasion of the International Day for Eradication of Poverty, the Prime Minister said that we, together with the international community, are committed to a world where everyone has equal opportunities for success. Eradication of poverty is not only a moral duty but a fundamental condition for achieving sustainable development and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.
He said that the welfare of the people is the focus of every policy of our government and the government has made significant progress in ensuring the eradication of poverty through its social safety net initiatives. We believe that to lift people out of poverty, it is not only necessary to provide immediate relief, but concrete measures to empower them economically are also very important.
The prime minister said that our efforts are aimed at empowering communities, especially women and children, and providing them with the means to build a better future.
From ensuring food security to meeting housing needs, we are working on policies to ensure long-term economic growth, he said.
The Prime Minister said that our initiatives like PM Youth Business, Agriculture Loans, Digital Skills – Free IT Trainings and Pakistan Education Endowment Fund are changing lives by providing financial support and technical assistance to lakhs of families.
He said that among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), poverty alleviation is also at the top, to achieve which Pakistan is fully committed. We will continue to collaborate with our global partners and work towards the goals of inclusive development, education, healthcare and environmental sustainability. We are also proud of the progress made in empowering women and ensuring that The contribution of women is very important for the development of the country.
The Prime Minister said that today I pay my heartfelt tribute to all those people in Pakistan and around the world, who are working tirelessly to eradicate poverty. By coming together with common purpose and determination, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
The Prime Minister said that on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, I reiterate our unwavering commitment to this cause and invite all sectors of society to join us in building a more prosperous, equal and inclusive world.
