Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah visited Swat and reviewed the rescue operation related to the Swat River tragedy near Mingora Bypass.
Announcing Rs 1.5 million each for the next of kin of the deceased on this occasion, he said that out of 85 people trapped in the Swat River, 58 were rescued alive, the administration officers and the district rescue officer have been suspended for negligence.
He said that the inquiry committee should review the incident and punish those who were negligent, the helicopter could not reach due to bad weather and lack of time, they are going to ban all kinds of excavation in the Swat River, and strict action will also be taken against encroachments.
All kinds of SOPs have been issued for tourists, the bodies of 11 people have been found while further search operations are underway. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stands with the grieving families in this tragic incident.
