ISLAMABAD: Following the style of the members of the National Assembly, the senators also proposed to transfer the power of increasing the salaries and allowances from the government to the Senate.
The Ministry of Finance used to be consulted to increase the salaries and allowances of the members of the National Assembly, but now there will be no consultation with the Ministry of Finance to increase the salaries and allowances of the members of the National Assembly. The National Assembly has passed an amendment in this regard.
Today, a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance was held under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala, in which the amendment in the allowances of the members of parliament was considered.
The chairman of the committee Saleem Mandviwala proposed an amendment and said that the National Assembly will decide to increase the salaries of the members of the National Assembly. The law has been passed. Salaries will be increased at will. This amendment has been submitted.
In the meeting, Finance Secretary Imdad Bosal asked for three days’ time to consider the amendment.
