Islamabad: In the context of newly elected US President Donald Trump assuming office for a second term on January 20, a conference of Pakistani ambassadors posted in important countries was held under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, in which Pakistani ambassadors posted in Washington, Moscow, Beijing, New York, Geneva and Afghanistan participated.
The conference reviewed Pakistan’s foreign policy in terms of relations with the new US administration.
The ambassadors participating in this conference were there for some other meeting, so the ambassadors posted in the UK, Iran and India were not present at this conference.
According to sources, in addition to relations with the new US administration, the conference reviewed relations with Afghanistan and China.
After Trump came to power for the second time, there has been a stir in many capitals including the Western world. However, Pakistan, which is no longer among the priorities of the US administration, may have to face many problems.
In this conference, the Pakistani ambassador posted in Washington presented his views on relations with the new administration. According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the conference was also attended by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Additional Foreign Secretaries and Senior Directors General.
The participants of the conference presented their views on the regional and global changes taking place in the world with regard to the year 2025.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also gave his views on foreign policy. The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan wants to strengthen its relations with all countries of the world.
He urged the ambassadors to improve Pakistan’s profile on the global stage and strengthen partnerships with other countries on the global stage. The annual conference of Pakistani ambassadors is a normal thing, but this short-term conference is also of special importance.
