Islamabad: Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar says that our party is considering different names for the Chief Election Commissioner and two members.
Talking to the media after the hearing of the PTI intra-party case, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar said that the Chief Election Commissioner and two members have completed their constitutional term.
Regarding the case, Barrister Gohar said that we have requested the Election Commission to recover our record before the arguments. Four out of the five petitioners did not participate in the intra-party elections in any way, while the fifth petitioner, who is an associate of Akbar S. Babar, was expelled from the party long ago.
Petitioner Akbar S. Babar said in a conversation with the media that the PTI has not yet submitted a written response to my petition, Barrister Gohar made a false statement to the Election Commission today.
Hearing of the case
Earlier, the Election Commission gave PTI another deadline of March 4 to submit its response in the intra-party election case.
The hearing of the PTI intra-party case was held by a three-member commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner. Barrister Gauhar Khan appeared before the Election Commission on behalf of the PTI.
During the hearing, Barrister Gauhar said that he had submitted his response, but time should be given for arguments.
The Chief Election Commissioner remarked that he should take copies of the documents submitted by the petitioners. Barrister Gauhar said that the hearing should be adjourned until the second week of March, however, the Election Commission adjourned the hearing until March 4.
Notices were issued by the Election Commission to PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar and Rauf Hassan, while the Election Commission also issued notices to Akbar S. Babar and other petitioners.
Hearing of cases of violation of Section 144
On the other hand, cases of violation of Section 144 against Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan and others were heard in the District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad.
Judicial Magistrate Karachi Police Station Company Shahzad Khan heard the cases. Barrister Gohar Khan filed an application for exemption from attendance.
Arguments could not be made on the acquittal applications of the accused even today. The court adjourned the hearing of the cases without proceeding till March 3.
Two cases have been registered against Barrister Gohar Khan and others in Police Station I-9.
