Washington: A delegation from Pakistan met Dr. Aafia Siddiqui imprisoned in a US jail and expressed hope that the government will decide on her release soon.
The Pakistani delegation met Dr. Aafia Siddiqui for about 3 hours following the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition, the Pakistani delegation also met with officials from the US Congress and the State Department for the release of Aafia Siddiqui.
Senator Bushra Anjum, who was part of the Pakistani delegation, while talking to a private news channel, said that the talks with US officials for the release of Aafia Siddiqui were positive.
She expressed hope that the US government would also decide on Aafia Siddiqui’s release before January 20.
She added that Aafia Siddiqui’s case is a global human rights issue.
During the meeting, Dr. Aafia said that she still hopes to get justice.
