Washington DC: The American space agency NASA has planned to eliminate the killer asteroids that destroyed the Earth in the past with an army of 1000 spacecraft.
The space agency is quietly working on plans and testing ways to destroy deadly asteroids in space to save Earth.
A report was released by NASA on the National Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan for Near-Earth Objects and Hazards and Planetary Defense.
The report explained how the agency has planned to deal with near-Earth objects (NEOs) that could cause global catastrophes.
According to scientists, no space rock poses a threat to Earth for the next 100 years, but there are thousands of asteroids hidden in the solar system that could prove dangerous.
According to the prediction of scientists, dozens of ‘killer’ asteroids are hidden in the solar system.
An attempt by NASA was made in September 2022 as the 325 crore DART mission. In this attempt, a spacecraft was rammed into an asteroid to alter its orbit.
However, scientists warned that debris from such asteroids and unknown orbits could pose a further threat. Therefore, 1000 spacecraft may be required to reorbit asteroids up to 2000 feet.
