LAHORE: Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court has given the deadline till November 13 to the Federal Government, Election Commission and other parties to file their responses on various petitions against NAB amendments under the Presidential Ordinance.
The court remarked that if the reply is not filed at the next hearing, the right of defense of the government will be terminated.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Azhar Siddique Advocate, took the stand that under these amendments, only the founder Tehreek-e-Insaaf was remanded. It is to be seen whether the Presidential Ordinance can be issued when the matter is in the National Assembly.
Lahore High Court could not hear different applications of the same nature against the appointment of retired judges in election tribunals through the presidential ordinance.
