Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has laid the foundation for improvement in the education sector, under which the provincial government has taken revolutionary steps in 2024.
The provincial government has taken many major revolutionary steps in the education sector, including the meritorious scholarship, the first public school reorganization, higher education internship, Chief Minister School Nutrition, buses for Lahore Kindergarten School and girls’ colleges in every tehsil, back-to-school campaign for admissions, new classrooms in government schools, establishment of science and IT laboratories.
Maryam Nawaz has sought a plan for artificial intelligence education in elementary classes on the model of China. In addition, for the first time in Punjab, steps are being taken to appoint education officers on merit after tests and interviews in the division, district and tehsil, as well as to establish a single authority for curriculum development, teacher training and other matters.
Similarly, the restructuring of the School Education Council, laptop scheme, solarized charging stations in colleges and universities, new universities, green school program are being started soon, while it has also been agreed to organize a school hockey league and Pakistan’s largest “School Olympics”, and introduce “Theme of the Month” in government schools.
In the first phase of the bus project for 76 girls’ colleges in the province, 19 girls’ colleges have received buses. The Public Schools Reorganization Program has saved Rs. 40 billion and provided employment to 70,000 youth. The decision to build 5,000 new classrooms in Punjab’s PSRP schools is also part of the measures.
Outsourcing of schools in Punjab has increased the number of students by several hundred percent. The pilot project of satellite internet in DPS Model Town is also part of these initiatives, while the largest higher education internship program in the history of Punjab is also prominent.
The recruitment of 7354 college teacher interns has been completed in government colleges of Punjab, who will be given Rs 50,000 per month for 6 months.
In addition, the project of providing nutritious milk packs to more than 400,000 students in 3527 schools of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh is also part of the provincial government’s initiatives. The government will also pay lakhs of rupees in prizes and educational expenses for the position holders of the education board, while Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has increased the meritorious scholarship from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000. On the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, one lakh e-bikes will also be given to the students.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while congratulating Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Secretary Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed and the entire team, has said that every child of Punjab has the full right to get the best and modern education. There will be no shortage of resources for the education of children. Changes and improvements will be brought in the education system according to the requirements of the modern era.
