Islamabad: The trend of continuous increase in inflation rate in the country continues, the inflation rate has increased by 0.80 percent in the past week and the annual inflation rate has increased from 4.64 percent to 5.08 percent.
The weekly inflation report by the Federal Bureau of Statistics on Friday said that 17 items became expensive and 10 items became cheaper in the past week, while the prices of 24 items remained stable. During the past week, the prices of tomatoes increased by 20.75 percent, chicken prices by 22.47 percent, sugar by 2.19 percent, beef by 0.69 percent, mustard oil by 0.69 percent, cooking oil by 0.74 percent, LPG by 0.18 percent, fuel wood by 0.95 percent and ghee prices by 0.91 percent.
According to the report, the prices of gram and gram decreased by 0.78 percent, mash by 1.28 percent, onion by 8.13 percent, potato by 2.38 percent, eggs by 0.30 percent, banana by 0.68 percent, and broken rice by 0.15 percent.
The statistics show that during the recent week, in terms of sensitive price indices, the inflation rate for the group with an income of up to Rs 17,732 per month increased by 0.69 percent to 5.10 percent, while the inflation rate for the group with an income of Rs 17,733 to Rs 22,888 per month increased by 0.78 percent to 5.09 percent.
The inflation rate for the group with an income of Rs. 22,889 to Rs. 29,517 per month increased by 0.76 percent to 5.22 percent, for the group with an income of Rs. 29,518 to Rs. 44,175 per month, the inflation rate was 4.98 percent with an increase of 0.82 percent, while for the group with an income of more than Rs. 44,176 per month, the inflation rate was 5.09 percent with an increase of 0.81 percent.
