Quetta: Armed men attacked a residential quarter in Gwadar and killed 7 people by firing. All the deceased were from Punjab.
According to the police, unidentified gunmen attacked a residential quarter near Fish Harbor Jetty in Sarbandar area and killed 7 people who were sleeping in the quarter. One person has been injured in the incident.
After receiving the information, the dead bodies and the injured have been shifted to Gwadar Hospital.
According to initial reports, the dead and injured persons belong to Khanewal district of Punjab, who worked in a barber shop in Sarbandar. The firing incident took place in Sarbandan around 3 pm.
After the incident, the security forces have surrounded Sarbandan and started the search for the unknown accused. According to the police, the names of the killed persons have been identified as Sajid, Asad Al-Nar, Shan, Mukarb, Adnan, Haseeb, while the name of the injured person is Arsalan.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has condemned the Gwadar incident and said that the killing of innocent laborers is open terrorism. Will pursue the terrorists and their facilitators and will use whatever force is necessary against them, but will maintain the state writ in all cases.
He said that every drop of blood of Pakistanis will be counted.
On the other hand, Provincial Interior Minister Mir Zia Longo condemned the Gwadar incident and called for a report. He said that terrorists will be dealt with strictly. Killing innocent workers is a cowardly act. The incident is being examined from all aspects.
According to the spokesperson of the Balochistan government, the families of the deceased are being contacted.
