TikTok was recently banned in the US (which was later lifted), after which users lost access to not only this app but also ByteDance’s video editing app Capcut.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Meta has announced its free video editor ‘Edits’ for creators.
The app is currently on pre-order in the US and is expected to go live next month. Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri has also confirmed the introduction of an Android version soon.
Using the Edits app, users will be able to mirror and edit footage for vertical (i.e. vertical) style videos. If the video is posted to Instagram, the app will provide live performance insights of the video, such as viewer engagement.
The Edits app has all the features found in Cap. These features include green screen, video overlay, caption generation and voiceovers. Users will be able to animate images using the AI animation feature in the app.
