Tel Aviv: A 20-year-old Israeli soldier who was seriously injured in a clash with Hamas in Gaza a week ago died of his injuries.
According to the Times of Israel, the slain staff sergeant was identified as Betzleel Zvi Kovach, who was stationed at the Netra Yehuda Battalion in Jerusalem.
In a statement issued by the Israeli army, while confirming the death of the 20-year-old officer, it said that the staff sergeant was seriously injured in a clash with Hamas in Beit Hanoun on May 22.
On that day, Hamas snipers targeted Israeli soldiers who came for action in a building, in which 3 soldiers were killed on the spot and today the fourth soldier died.
According to the Times of Israel, the death of this official brings to 287 the number of Israeli soldiers killed in ground and border operations and clashes against Hamas in Gaza.
It should be remembered that on October 7, Hamas attacked Israel, killing about 1500 Israeli soldiers and civilians, while 250 were taken hostage and brought to Gaza.
