Dosti International Theater Festival started in Lahore, which was grandly inaugurated in Al Hamra Hall and on the first day, a tableau was also presented to show solidarity with the Palestinians, on which the audience got emotional and applauded the artists.
Executive Director Shahid Nadeem and famous actress Sawira Nadeem inaugurated the ceremony by lighting candles during the colorful ceremony at Al Hamra.
The ceremony officially began with the National Anthem, followed by the launch of a special song by Ajuka Theatre. At the event, actress Sawira Nadeem spoke about her journey to Ajuka and reminisced about the past.
The unique performance of Wahab Shah and his group in the event captivated the hearts of the audience. On the one hand, Sufi color was reflected in the performance, on the other hand, the culture of the four provinces of Pakistan was presented in the best way.
Expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, he delivered an emotional tribute that was well received by the audience. According to the management of Ajoka Theatre, the festival will continue from November 9 to 17 at Alhamra Arts Council Lahore and theater groups from 11 countries will participate in it.
Executive Director Shahid Nadeem said that the 9-day festival has been organized with the support of Lahore Arts Council and Punjab Government. Artists from America, Switzerland, Turkey, Nepal and other countries including a 16-member theater group from India have arrived in Lahore to participate in the event, while renowned Indian director Keval Dhaliwal and the Swiss group will also arrive here soon.
He said that famous American theater group “Limte” will also participate. The highlight of the event was Ajuka Theatre’s popular drama “Dara”, which was specially staged for the opening ceremony.
The play entertained the audience by incorporating new thinking into the traditional color of Ajuka. According to the administration, this festival is an important step for the promotion of art and culture, in which artists from Pakistan and other countries will share their experiences with each other and promote cultural harmony.
