Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Pakistan Senator Kamran Murtaza has announced that the differences between the government and his party over the Madras Registration Bill have been resolved.
JUI Senator Kamran Murtaza, while talking to a private channel, confirmed that the gazette notification of the bill is likely to be issued in the next two days as per the 26th Amendment.
He said that I and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar have finalized the draft of the law and the issue will be resolved with the issuance of the notification.
He said that an additional amendment will be brought to make the bill a law under which madrasas will be given the right to register with the Ministry of Education or register under the Society Registration Act.
However, there are still reservations regarding the bill and sources said that President Asif Ali Zardari has raised 8 points regarding the bill and especially the registration of madrassas under the Societies Act.
President Zardari had expressed his reservations that such a move could lead to sanctions by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and damage Pakistan’s global standing.
He also feared an increase in sectarianism and prejudice regarding madrassas, which could harm law and order and had directed that the drafting of this issue should be done carefully.
Despite all the above concerns, Senator Kamran Murtaza is confident that the notification will be issued soon and the matter will be resolved as per the wishes of all stakeholders.
