According to a British physician, a lack of B12 or iron can cause or worsen restless legs syndrome.
Restless legs syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes a feeling of restlessness in the legs and a need to move the legs.
Dr. Asif Ahmed of the United Kingdom gave an explanation on his TikTok account about the symptoms of this problem that can affect anyone at any age.
Dr. Asif said that restless legs can have various symptoms ranging from mild annoyance to depression, anxiety and lack of sleep.
He said that the diagnosis of this condition is very complicated but for its diagnosis the following criteria must be tested:
An uncontrollable urge to move the legs which may be associated with unpleasant sensations such as pins and needles in the feet.
These symptoms get worse when you are resting.
These symptoms are partially or completely resolved when you start moving or walking.
These symptoms are worse at night.
No other cause can be revealed by a blood test or any other method of examination.
While in most cases there is no clear cause, it can sometimes be related to a deficiency of certain nutrients and vitamins.
Dr. Asif said that experts know what can cause this condition or cause it to worsen. These include iron or B12 deficiency, pregnancy or use of certain medications.
