Inauguration ceremony of Punjab Agriculture,Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA).

Lahore, 31 January 2026: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) that it is not just a building of steel and cement, but a game-changer too. She added that the dream of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority was envisioned by Shehbaz Sharif as Chief Minister; and today, we are witnessing its realization. She noted that Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif conceived the idea of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority and worked tirelessly to establish it. She highlighted that not only Punjab but the entire Pakistan will benefit from the high-tech services of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority. She underscored that 42 machines have already arrived for Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority, while 565 more will be added soon; the process will be completed by next month.

Chief Minister Punjab said that the aim of establishing this state-of-the-art lab is to deliver justice and quality to every doorstep. She added when people speak of Shehbaz Sharif’s legacy, it is a medal of honor for me, as I learned the lessons of hard work and merit from Shehbaz Sharif. She underscored that in order to give practical shape to the concept of a Safe Punjab, Satellite Crime Scene Units are being established in 38 districts.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that PAFDA will enable testing of cosmetics, orthopedic implants, soil fertility, and other matters, besides testing of fertilizers, food, drugs, and even animal feed. She added that among 232 scientists employed in Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority, more than 100 are gold medalists, and 28 hold PhDs, while 70% of them are women. She underscored that PAFDA has secured collaboration and partnership with USAID (American), GAIN (Swiss), and CABI (New Zealand). She noted that they all are striving to increase exports, but consignments are returned if they fail to meet quality standards. Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority will set quality standards at the global and national levels, ensuring that only the best products are exported, so the establishment of PAFDA will not only improve exports, but local consumers will also receive quality products.

Chief Minister Punjab said that wheat flour, rice, or medicines that are not suitable for export should not be used locally either. She added that they will build the first women scientists’ hostel for 300 women. She flashed that e-tendering, e-procurement, and e-business have already been launched in Punjab, besides granting online fee-free permits to more than 23,000 businessmen in the province

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that during an incident, drones are dispatched before the police arrives, as she has recently monitored firefighting operations at a hotel in Lahore digitally using drones. She added that women no longer need to visit police stations in difficult times; instead, police will reach them within 15 minutes when they call 15. She underscored that they are utilizing AI for assistance in traffic management, child protection, and other matters. She noted that AI education has been made mandatory in all schools across Punjab from April onwards. She acknowledged that with the establishment of Satellite Crime Scene Units, evidence will no longer be lost. She expressed with pride that Shehbaz Sharif is the architect of a modern Punjab and a modern Pakistan.
