A meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan is underway under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi for appointment of additional judges in courts.
According to the report, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan meeting will approve additional judges in the Peshawar High Court, and 40 names will be considered for the appointment of 9 additional judges in the meeting.
It should be remembered that yesterday, the judges of the Islamabad High Court had written a letter to the President and the Chief Justice against the possible attempt to bring a judge from another High Court for the post of Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
In the letter, the judges said that a judge should not be brought from another High Court or made the Chief Justice, but one of the three senior judges from the Islamabad High Court should be made the Chief Justice.
According to judicial sources, a copy of the letter has been sent to the President of Pakistan, the Chief Justice, as well as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court.
The letter states that meaningful consultation is necessary to bring a judge from another High Court, it is also necessary to give reasons for bringing a judge from another High Court, compared to the Islamabad High Court, there are two hundred thousand pending cases in the Lahore High Court, how can the seniority issued by the Islamabad High Court change?
