Eye twitching is common and is also associated with bad omens in many cultures.
However, few of us know the real reason behind it. Eye twitching is usually caused by several factors, which are as follows:
Eye irritation
Eye twitching can be caused by dry eyes, bright light, wind or air pollution.
Stress
Mental stress can also be a cause. You can relieve it by doing stress reduction techniques such as exercise, meditation or breathing exercises.
Fatigue
Insufficient sleep is also associated with eye twitching, so make a habit of going to bed early at night.
Caffeine, alcohol or nicotine
Consumption of too much caffeine, alcohol or nicotine is also one of the causes of this condition.
Medications
Some medications can cause eye twitching as a side effect, especially those used to treat migraines.
Eye twitching is usually temporary and goes away on its own, but in rare cases, eye twitching can be a sign of a serious problem with the brain or nervous system that requires immediate medical attention. Such conditions include
1) Eye twitching lasts longer than usual
2) Eye twitching is very painful
3) You have other symptoms along with eye twitching, such as involuntary eyelid closure
