KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the Sindh government is working on a plan to provide agricultural loans to small farmers and the provincial government will pay interest on these loans to help small farmers expand their agricultural activities. Access to needed financial support will become easier.
The Chief Minister said that the aim of this initiative is to help and empower the small farmers which will ultimately help in the development of the agricultural sector in Sindh and under this scheme the farmers will be responsible for paying the principal amount only.
He said this while addressing the opening ceremony of Hari Card chaired by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the Chief Minister’s House on Monday. Working will allow them to grow crops without facing financial pressure and added that his government will pay the interest on the loans meaning farmers will only need to pay the capital amount.
They will ensure that such incidents do not recur in future, the chief minister said, adding that the police had intervened due to growing security concerns in the city, adding that there had recently been an incident of terrorism near the airport. Aya and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit being held in Islamabad, in view of these events, the organizers of the Rawdari March were asked to postpone their protest as Section 144 was imposed to prevent public gatherings, crop insurance. This facility will also be linked to hari card holders, the agriculture department has registered 15 lakh farmers to whom the cards are being issued.
The Chief Minister said that this card is a continuation of the long-standing efforts of the People’s Party and the Sindh government to help small and medium farmers as per the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
