New Delhi: 17 people were killed and 40 injured in an explosion in a pharmaceutical factory in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to Indian media, a terrible fire broke out in the manufacturing plant of Essencia Advanced Sciences, a 40-acre pharmaceutical factory in the Collectorate district of Andhra Pradesh. The blast occurred when the employees were having lunch.
This factory was established in 2019.
As a result of the terrible fire, the flames started talking to the sky. There was chaos in the factory. During the rescue operations, more than 50 injured employees were shifted to the hospital.
The hospital administration told the media that 15 employees were brought dead while 2 died during treatment. Still around 40 injured are under treatment, out of which 5 are in serious condition.
Police say that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but it seems that there may have been an explosion in a chemical reactor.
Reuters contacted the pharmaceutical company for information on the accident but did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It may be recalled that last year, 2 employees were burnt to death and 5 others were injured in a fire caused by an explosion in a solvent reactor in a unit of Sahiti Pharma in Annakapally district.
