Munich: Astronomers have captured the sudden activation of a super meso black hole hundreds of light years away from Earth.
A black hole in the constellation Virgo, more than 300 light-years away from Earth, had been quietly hidden away, but in 2019 it reactivated without warning, and the black hole, a million times the size of the Sun, suddenly pulled material from a nearby galaxy. started
Due to the huge amount of light emitted, an international team of scientists observed the scene of its activation. Experts say that this is something that could even be in the center of our galaxy.
Until recently, the galaxy SDSS1335+0728 was just a dim and uninteresting patch of space, but in December 2019, astronomers observed a star emit large amounts of infrared, ultraviolet and visible light.
“Imagine you observe a distant galaxy for years and it always looks calm and inactive,” said Paula Sanchez-Saez, lead author of the study. Suddenly, its core began to show dramatic changes in light unlike anything seen in the past.
The data show that the galaxy is now emitting four times more ultraviolet radiation, twice as much infrared radiation as well as X-rays, and the data suggests that the black hole is active.
