ISLAMABAD: China and Saudi Arabia are likely to roll over a loan of $9 billion to Pakistan in the current fiscal year 2024-25, and Pakistan is also seeking funding for the Diamer Bhasha Dam.
According to sources in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Pakistan is expected to receive a facility of 500 million dollars from the Islamic Development Bank for oil and commodities, but it is unlikely that Saudi Arabia will extend another oil loan facility.
Sources in the Ministry of Economic Affairs have said that Pakistan is facing a total payment of more than 20.8 billion dollars this year. The Geneva Donor Conference promised 10.7 billion dollars in 2023, but only 3 billion dollars have been received. Pakistan will also try to secure financing in terms of commitments made under the Donors Conference.
According to sources, Pakistan is expecting one billion dollars from the World Bank for the Dasu Hydropower Project, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will provide financing for the N5 project.
