Washington: NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover has observed a strange ‘zebra stone’ on Mars.
According to the space agency, this black-and-white striped rock is unlike any previously seen on Mars, which are scattered across the planet’s reddish-brown surface.
NASA says this could be a sign of exciting future discoveries.
While the rover was traveling through some unremarkable rocky terrain, a team of NASA scientists spotted a rock in the distance that had stripes of an unusual texture, the space agency said.
The rover took pictures of the rock, now named ‘Freya Castle’, and will return it to Earth a few days later.
