Makkah: Since the time of the Prophet ﷺ, the key of the Kaaba has been with the Shebi tribe and this practice is still ongoing, which is also maintained by the Saudi government.
After the conquest of Makkah in 630 AD, the Prophet ﷺ, while reciting the 58th verse of Surah Al-Nisa, entrusted the key of the door of Baitullah to the family of Al-Shaybi tribe.
In this verse, Allah commands to return trusts and to judge between people with justice.
According to the Arab media, the keys of Baitullah were with Dr. Sheikh Saleh, an elder of the Shaibi tribe, who recently appeared before the Lord.
After the death of Dr. Sheikh Saleh, the key of the door of the Kaaba was handed over to the new guardian of the Shaibi tribe, Abdul Wahab bin Zain al-Abidin al-Shaibi.
In a conversation with the media, Abdul Wahab bin Zainul Abedin said that it is an honor for me. All of you should pray that I can serve the house of Lord Almighty in a good way.
It should be noted that the Key of the Kaaba is usually entrusted to the eldest member of the Banu al-Shaybi.
