In the ceremony, the Pakistan Navy’s armed forces took over the duties of the guard of honor and the Pakistan Rangers Punjab team retired from their duties at the shrine and left. Pakistan Navy Commander Central Punjab Rear Admiral Azhar Mehmood was the chief guest of the event.

Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani paid tribute to the services and legacy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and said that his vision and thoughts awakened the spirit of freedom among the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Allama Iqbal presented the concept of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent and Quaid-i-Azam turned this dream into reality. The commitment is to reiterate.
