ISLAMABAD: The World Bank will lend 8 billion 700 million dollars to Pakistan in the next 5 years for various development projects.
According to the document of Economic Amorvision, work on 58 projects is going on in Pakistan with the support of the World Bank. The total cost of the projects is 14 billion 80 million dollars. Pakistan has received 6 billion 16 million dollars so far. The World Bank will provide an additional $8.7 billion in loans by 2029. According to the documents, additional financing of $1 billion is included for Phase One of the Dassault Hydropower Project. 70 crore loan will be available for Dasu transmission line project. 588.4 million dollars will be available for the Dasu Hydropower Stage One project.
The documents further state that $500 million will be provided for the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project, while $500 million will be provided for the housing project in Sindh province. In Pakhtunkhwa, $400 million is included for expenditure and development projects. The Khyber Pass Economic Corridor project is likely to receive $460 million, while the KPK hydro and renewable energy project is also worth $450 million.
According to the Economic Affairs Division, 400 million dollars will be loaned for the higher education development project. 258 million dollars will be given for National Health Support Project Phase One. Development projects include a $440 million rural water supply project in Punjab, $39 crore funding for the Tarbela Four expansion project and a $300 million rural access project in KPK.
