KABUL: The head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Malik Siza, has called on the Taliban government to ease restrictions on girls’ education and women’s employment.
According to the international news agency, while addressing the fourth round of Pak-Afghan Religious Scholars organized by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) in Islamabad, the head of the United Nations Mission on behalf of the Taliban gave Afghan women passports, immigration, Allowing reprimands in the government sectors of health care and agriculture has been welcomed.
However, the head of the UN mission also demanded that restrictions on women’s employment in other government sectors and private offices be lifted. Similarly, the ban on secondary schools for girls should also be lifted.
The head of UNAMA said that Islam did not ban women’s education, nor does Islam prevent women from going to work.
It should be noted that since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021, secondary schools for girls have been closed and women’s jobs have been banned.
