Tokyo: Like the rest of the world, the sun has come to a screeching halt in Japan, the Japanese Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert in various areas.
The Japan Meteorological Department says that a high pressure system in the Pacific Ocean has overshadowed large areas of western and eastern Japan, causing temperatures to rise to around 40 degrees Celsius in some areas.
Yesterday, temperatures were recorded at 39.6 in Shingo in Wakayama, 39.2 in Fuchu in Tokyo and 38.8 in Kuwana city in Mei.
Japan’s Meteorological Department and Ministry of Environment have issued heat wave alerts in 24 different cities, including Tokyo, and asked citizens not to go out unnecessarily.
