Washington: US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel has responded to the resolution related to Pakistan in the House of Representatives and said that Congress cannot discuss the pending legislation.
While giving a press briefing in Washington, the American spokesperson said that in the American democratic system, Congress is a separate branch of government.
Vedant Patel said that the issue of election rigging has been raised by Pakistani partners, urging the government of Pakistan to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms.
It also includes freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and religious freedom. Vedant Patel said that the issue of transparency of elections in Pakistan is the focus of our attention.
In response to a question, Vedant Patel said that the cases against founder PTI are an internal matter of Pakistan. Regarding India-Pakistan relations, he said that Pakistan and India have to settle their own affairs.
