The Islamabad High Court annulled the Election Commission’s order to replace Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of the Election Tribunal.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq gave a safe verdict in the case against the change of Election Tribunal and the Election Act Amendment Ordinance. In the decision, the order to replace Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri was invalidated.
The court sent the matter back to the Election Commission and directed it to take a decision again, while the court also annulled the order appointing retired judge Shakur Pracha as a judge of the Election Tribunal.
It should be noted that the Election Commission had appointed a retired judge as the Election Tribunal, PTI candidates had challenged the decision of the Election Commission, Shoaib Shaheen, Aamir Mughal and Ali Bukhari had filed petitions against the change of the tribunal.
