Islamabad: The Prime Minister has directed a comprehensive strategy to increase the country’s exports. A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on measures to increase exports.
The Prime Minister directed to formulate a comprehensive and effective strategy to take the country’s exports to $60 billion in the next 5 years.
The Prime Minister emphasized the introduction of sustainable reforms in the tariff system for the development of the economy and increase in exports and directed that tariff rates be reduced and the system be made easy and understandable.
The Prime Minister directed to pay special attention to the services, IT and agriculture sectors to increase exports and said that export industries should be promoted under the “Udan Pakistan” vision.
The meeting briefed the Prime Minister on reforms in the Ministry of Commerce, 2025-30 Strategic Trade Policy Framework, e-commerce policy and measures to increase exports.
The Prime Minister directed to ensure global standards of medicines. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding reforms in the health sector.
The Prime Minister directed to establish an international standard drug testing laboratory in Islamabad to ensure global standards of medicines. The Prime Minister directed to launch mobile hospitals in the outskirts of Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Balochistan.
The Prime Minister ordered strict action against fake medicines in collaboration with the provincial governments and said that counterfeiters cannot be allowed to play with human lives.
The meeting also discussed reforms in the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), transparent appointment of experts in DRAP’s policy board, and measures to make the Drug Pricing Committee more effective.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the digital registration of medicines manufactured in Pakistan, the appointment of 94 new drug inspectors and measures to increase the export of medicines.
Meanwhile, Members of the National Assembly Muhammad Idrees, Ehsan-ul-Haq Bajwa, PML-N leaders Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha and Shah Muhammad Shah met Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif separately.
The members of the National Assembly paid tribute to the Prime Minister for the recent economic stability. The meeting discussed the issues of the relevant constituencies. The Prime Minister directed the members of the Assembly to increase their contacts with the people in their constituencies and solve their problems.
