ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Korean Program on International Agriculture in collaboration with SIFC have set up a “Seed Potato Complex” in Islamabad to increase local potato crop production.
The Korean delegation headed by the South Korean Ambassador also held an important meeting with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain regarding the “Seed Potato Complex”. The Korean ambassador emphasized on the transfer of modern agricultural technology and providing necessary training to Pakistani farmers on modern technology.
Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the historic and friendly relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of strengthening these relations through mutual development and promotion of agriculture.
In this regard, Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said that both countries are working on agricultural technology transfer projects and this bilateral cooperation will increase local agricultural production and development of the sector.
The establishment of an “aeroponic greenhouse” in the same research center will also help in improving the quality of potato seeds and in modern research. “Aeroponic Greenhouse” is a modern technique used in agriculture sector to increase crop production.
The support of the Korean Program on International Agriculture will support Pakistan in addressing challenges such as food shortages and sustainable agricultural development.
This important initiative of Pakistan and Korean government in the field of agriculture is a guarantee of the strength of the country’s economy along with meeting the need of food.
