A study has found that people who listen to classical music while eating choose low-fat foods and eat fewer calories.
A team of experts, including University College London, said in the study that listening to classical music while eating can help keep weight down.
However, avoiding jazz, rap and rock music may be a wise step because during the study, people who listened to these types of music chose unhealthy and high-calorie junk food.
The study, published in the journal Brain Topography, confirmed a previous study that calm music reduces a person’s appetite, while fast music increases appetite.
Researchers believe that light-tempo and calm classical music reduce activity in the part of the brain that increases hunger.
The researchers said that there is a possible link between food and music. Some studies have found that low-pitched music and high-pitched music increase people’s chances of eating healthy foods.
