A new study suggests that getting enough regular sleep can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
A US study found that people who slept irregularly (with an average of more than 60 minutes of sleep per day) were less likely to have diabetes than those who slept regularly. The risks of suffering were 34 percent higher.
Research findings have shown that regular sleep is important to prevent diabetes.
Study leader Sina Kianarsi said that the study showed that lifestyle changes can help reduce the risk of diabetes.
He said that the research results highlighted the importance of regular sleep in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
In the study, researchers monitored participants’ sleep for seven nights and then followed them for seven years.
