Peshawar: The Pakhtun Khawa government has officially decided to build the first Liver Transplant, Bone Marrow Transplant and Neurosurgery Institute in the province.
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur chaired an important meeting of the Health Department, in which provincial cabinet members Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Muzamil Aslam, Mashal Yousafzai, besides the Chief Secretary, related administrative secretaries, and experts from the health department participated. .
In the meeting, it was decided to set up Liver Transplant and Bone Marrow Transplant Centers, which will be the first Liver and Bone Marrow Transplant Centers in the province at the government level. Initially, the liver transplant center will be established on a limited scale at the Institute of Kidney Diseases Peshawar, after which the transplant center will be shifted to the under-construction building at Khyber Medical University on a permanent basis.
Apart from this, it has been decided in the meeting to establish the first Institute of Neurosurgery in the province, which will be established in Fountain House Peshawar.
The Chief Minister directed the Finance Department to provide the funds required for the establishment of these centers on a priority basis. He also ordered the concerned authorities to finalize the plan for establishing these centers and submit it for approval.
Ali Amin Gandapur said in the meeting that the manpower, funds and medical equipment required for the establishment of these centers should be provided in the plans as well as the details of their administrative structure. A viable financial strategy should also be devised to run these centers on a sustainable basis.
He said that the provincial government is committed to provide liver and bone marrow transplant facility to the people in the province itself. With the establishment of these centers, the people of the province will not need to go to other provinces for transplant. 24-hour availability of dialysis services should be ensured in government hospitals where dialysis services are available.
Chief Minister KPK further said that necessary steps should be taken to start dialysis service in government hospitals where dialysis facility is not available. Health sector is one of the main priorities of the provincial government. All available resources will be utilized to provide quality treatment facilities to the people of the province.
